Finding Heaven in Carlos Acosta Premieres

I am really excited to be currently working at the London Coliseum in Carlos Acosta's Premieres. It is a really inspiring production with many mixed media collaborators and featuring the amazing Pegasus Choir. Hearing them warm up yesterday in the Coliseum's canteen was an amazing moment that filled the room with admiration. Given my own love of choral music combined with physical expression and the use of projection in performance, I am in some kind of heaven, which is apt as one of my roles is a soul walking towards the light.

Post Scriptum: "Tower Hamlet" by W. Shakespeare / Feb 2010

Regina Fichtner mimed Hamlet & Claudius in "Tower Hamlet" by W. Shakespeare last February in London:

"When Hamlet sees the ghost, he's embodied by an incredibly talented female mime, conveying his fear, horror and fascination through her movement across the stage [...]" (LONDONIST 19/02/2010)

A large cast explore five different kinds of theatre: Traditional British Shakespeare, Stanislavski Tradition, Lecoq Tradition, Mime and the Grotowksi Tradition
in a performance of Hamlet

Director John Seaforth and Admiration Theatre
seek to exceed ordinary expectations of theatre
to explore theatre as an art form
in a way no conventional production does

Showing it's the not the story
but the way of telling that makes theatre creative

A weekend of performances!

The Ophelia Project takes to the Stage.

This weekend (20th and 21st March) the project performed at a sharing at Newington Dance Space in order to gain feedback on the performance. Newington Dance Space is a favourite of mine as we are always made to feel so welcome by such a friendly crowd. We enjoyed a lovely evening performing and watching other performances.

On Sunday we performed at a theatre pub, Brockley Jack Theatre. This was a very different space for us as it is much smaller than the space we are used to. The cast adapted very well to the smaller space and executed another performance with real professionalism and concentration.

We are going to enjoy a couple of weeks break now for Easter and to digest all the wonderful feedback we have gained. We will soon be in the studio again preparing for a season of summer performances.

Going to New York!

Hi,
I would like to share my joy of going to the other continent. Everything happens of course in name of my dance education. In a few days I will find myself in a biggest jungle of the world. I think as a monkey it won't be that shocking ;) I'm gonna study in Merce Cunningham Studio on International Visa Program. All of these seems overwhelming... I still cannot believe I am actually going there.
I would be grateful for some fingers crosses right now... =)

Today was the first rehearsal of The Ophelia Project of 2010. We welcomed two new performers, Sophie Linin and Umi Pratsis, to our group and worked on learning the material as well as developing a new floorwork section. We are working towards the second sharing of The Ophelia Collective which is due to take place in February at Chisenhale Dance Space.

We are also working towards our performance at Scratch night at Brockley Jack Theatre on 21st March.

after Crimbo

I wrote so many things today, it looks like I have too much time!
But I prefer having time, than not having time, if you know what I mean. Because actually I think that you are not necessary able to "have" time. Forgive me my words as I am still coming back to life after New Years Eve party which was kind of spectacular this year.
Please feel free to look up for my private blog which probably shows what Uncle Booze can or cannot do. But being serious, which is what might prove dangerous when talking about my case, it is not necessary the effect or alcohol misuse, but permanent personality disruptions.

I wish you all the best in New Year.
I wish you guys celebrations of Every Second, and let the fireworks go!
Joanna

PS- I can also ruin New Year!
